The following was taught and prayed through during our 9:30 a.m. family prayer time with Sue DeGroot

I heard the phrase 'Are you pressed or pressing?'

Pressed meaning- lacking something; to be in a difficult situation. You feel stressed, upset, annoyed, harassed, afflicted.

Synonyms - squeezed, crushed

Pressing-requiring quick or immediate action or attention.
It is urgent, critical, crucial, serious. It requires compelling immediate action.

Read:

PRESSED -1 Kings 17:7-24 Widow at Zarephath

PRESSING – 2 Kings 4:1-7 The Widow's Oil

In these two accounts, the widow of Zarephath by her actions and words had accepted that her and her son were going to die. However, she did obey the word of the prophet. As time goes on, once again she is pressed by her son's death. God, through Elijah raises him to life and only then did she believe -‭

Verse 24 - Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth.”

The widow who was about to lose her sons to the creditors didn't deny that there was a situation but chose to take immediate action. Instead of being pressed she was pressing into the man of God.

Prayed…

We are praying that we are pressing, with our trust in God, believing His promises are true and therefore declaring by faith that current situations are turning in Jesus’ name.
